The Mossie is an American rap group originally from Vallejo, California,

with members: Kaveo and Mugzi. They first appeared together on E-40’s

1993 EP The Mail Man. The album featured production by Mike Mosley,

Sam Bostic, and Studio Ton. It peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Top

R&B/Hip Hop Albums and at number 131 on the Billboard 200.

The Mossie would continue to be featured on several projects including

E-40 Federal, B-Legit Tryin’ to Get a Buck, D-Shot The Shot Calla, Celly Cel

Heat 4 Yo Azz, E-40 The Hall of Game, and more leading up to the debut of

The Mossie’s 1st studio album Have Heart Have Money, on Sick Wid It and

Jive Records released August 26, 1997. It was produced by DJ Xtra Large,

K-Lou, Levitti, The Mossie, Rick Rock, Sean T, Studio Ton and Tone Capone,

it was executive produced by B-Legit and E-40. The album peaked at

number 35 on the Billboard Top Heat Seekers and at number 62 on the

Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums. It features guest performances by E-40,

187 Fac, Celly Cel, Levitti, B-Legit, and G-Note of Funk Mobb.

 

The work continued with Kaveo and Mugzi making numerous features including D-Shot Six Figures, E-40 The Element of Surprise, D-Shot Boss Ballin’, Celly Cel The G Filez, N2Deep The Rumble, E-40 The Blueprint of a Self-Made Millionaire, B-Legit Hempin’ Ain’t Easy, and more. In 2000, Mugzi and Kaveo (The Mossie) aimed their sights on acting and would go on to appear in multiple feature film projects including Obstacles, Don’t Get Caught, War Up, and more. During this time span more music and features continued to come out of The Mossie. Their 2nd studio album arrived in 2001 Point Seen, Money Gone. The non-stop work ethic of the group was evident with their constant features on a slue of albums including Latino Velvet Velvetism, Mack 10 Ghetto, Gutter & Gangsta, E-40 Breakin’ News, and more.

 

In 2006 The Mossie would release their 3rd studio album Soil Savvy while continuing feature work on multiple albums including Nump Student ov da Game, E-40 Revenue Retrievin’ Day Shift, E-40 Revenue Retrievin’ Night Shift, E-40 The Block Brochure Welcome to the Soil 1, E-40 The Block Brochure Welcome to the Soil 3, Jay Tee The Game is Cold, Droop-E Hungry and Humble, and more.

 

Present day, The Mossie continues to actively create music with a greater responsibility, greater goals, and a greater moral duty. After decades of active involvement in the worldwide music scene, The Mossie has evolved into a legendary American rap group that has established a loyal following.

 

The Mossie is giving back through mentorships, while always delivering new music for their listeners. Look forward to the release of their 4th studio album coming winter 2023.
